Dog beach update

Visited dog beach (which is actually a large sandbox) yesterday. I hadn't realized, at first, how small an area it was...maybe more so because it was almost high tide...but if you stand on the steps of the crossover, you can see very clearly the words "No dogs allowed" on both signs posted on the sand, one to the north (by Canova) and the other to the south (before Raddison) . A football field is longer, I think. Although the people and dogs seemed content I couldn't help but think how much nicer it would be if the dogs could play. A 6 foot leash doesn't allow that...
Personally I think the gov't should allow dogs on stretches that are unused by PAFB. Folks bring their dogs anyway and there has never been a problem. Dogs need space. This small Canova experiment is just to placate people who have managed to legally back the county against a wall, while secretly hoping something happens and they have reason to take it all back after the year.

Beach picker

Such fun to watch those that love the beach, enough to get up before sunrise and drive to it, but don't want to get messy at the beach. Shoes, socks and a stick so he can explore without actually touching anything - where is the fun in that!? To each their own but walking the beach, no matter how fast or how slow, sure beats a trip to the gym!!

Sandpiper unification

Yesterday morning - early - these sandpipers sat, as a group, moved as a group, never put their second foot down. They moved to the north, to the south, never raising their heads up if they were napping, and just hopped on one foot. Another first sighting for yours truly who has walked the beach for over 50 years.

Have to share!

A tree in Germany has been decorated by thousands of painted Easter eggs by a father and daughter. The untranslated video is in German, but you can see the tree covered with eggs. Many of the eggs have artwork that looks very detailed. Take a look! There were 9,800 eggs as of last year!

What a great family tradition and father-daughter project! Who says you can't have that in Florida?!!

Baby Spider Monkey Born February 25
Tika, one of the spider monkeys at Brevard Zoo, gave birth early Saturday morning. The new baby is the second for Tika and father Shooter. Mom and baby are currently on exhibit in the La Selva loop. If you look closely from the boardwalk or on Treetop Trek's Canopy Walk, you might be able to catch a glimpse of the newborn! Too cute!!
