Cruise ship watching

Sunday is one of the best days to perch on a rock on Jetty Point and watch the ships glide by. Prime time is 4-5pm. If you are an early bird, an alternative is 7-7:30 am. Three ships leave in the early evening and two early in the morning. Enjoy - and don't forget the camera!!!

BSO at the Zoo


Tonight, for the Summer Saturday Night concert at Brevard Zoo, the Brevard Symphony Orchestra will perform. Remember, almost everything is open these Sat. nights and the cost to get in is only $5!!!!!!!!! Read all about it here!

Junior Olympic Windsurfing event

 
Next Sat. - June 30 - will be the USA Junior Olympic Windsurfing Festival.  This event is part of a national tour of sailing events to promote Sailing and Windsurfing as Olympic Sports.
 
Now in it’s 14th year, the USA Junior Olympic Windsurfing Festival allows children to get a “taste” of windsurfing through their FREE learn to windsurf mini-clinic.  They also offer a FREE Build a Mini Boat event – where children of all ages can build a miniature sailboat and race it down a special course propelled only by the wind.

SCHEDULE – Saturday, June 30, 2012:
8:45am-9:20am – Check in for Learn to Windsurf and Racing Event – ALL must check in – even if pre-registered.
9:30am-11:00am — FREE Learn to Windsurf Mini Clinic – Ages 8-17
10:00am-2:30pm – Mini Boat Building
11:00am – Lunch for Racers
11:45am – Skipper’s Meeting Racers
NOON: Racing Starts
By 4pm (latest) – Awards Ceremony

Astronaut for the Day at KSC

Meet Capt. Winston Scott, USN, retired Astronaut, currently Dean of the College of Aeronautics at FIT, and super fund-raiser. 
This weekend he is the featured astronaut at Kennedy Space Center. This writer had the privilege of having lunch with Mr. Scott and he is just chock full of fascinating facts. A gentleman and a professional trumpet player besides, Mr Scott is available for lunch at Kennedy Space Center at noon. And June 30- July 1, he will be appearing at the Meet an Astronaut event at KSC for a Q&A session.

International Surfing Day

 Surfrider Foundation Sebastian Inlet Chapter!!!


Tomorrow, on International Surfing  Day, we will be having our monthly meeting, Wedesday, June 20, 2012 at  Paradise Beach at 6 pm (on the beach).
 
Come out and see how you can get involved in the upcoming activities. 
Meet the group and enjoy the beach, music, raffles and some FREE BEER courtesy of our friends at Kona Brewery.
 Also, Saturday, June 23rd, join us at Long Doggers in Indialantic to continue the ISD celebration.
We will be celebrating at the restaurant and at the beach across the street.
Billy Chapman will perform, raffles, surf movies..don't miss out on the fun!!

Artic Blast at the Zoo Tuesday


Grab your swimsuits and head on out to the Brevard Zoo's ARTIC BLAST TUESDAYS! Every Tuesday of the month, the zoo treats little ones to an actic blast, literally! Starting at 1 p.m., the Zoo will drop several giant ice cubes into the water play area of Paws On. This cold experience is FREE with Zoo admission. Brevard Zoo is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. rain or shine. Last admission is 4:15 p.m.

Brevard Zoo salutes Dads!

Celebrate Father's Day by taking Dad to Brevard Zoo. He gets in free all day Sunday!! More info here! If you've never been to the zoo, you are missing out on a great experience. Our zoo rocks! The Treetop Trek zipline is the newest activity, but you can also kayak, paddleboat, or just sit under an umbrella and sip something cold while the little ones splash in a wading pool. Ah-h-h-h-h!

Fido Beach Clean-up!


Join us for the third monthly beach clean-up event. We'll meet near the South crossover (on the right when facing the beach). Bring your dog, of course!

Look for Nichole and Marcos, the leaders for this event who will sign you in and provide your supplies on behalf of Keep Brevard Beautiful.
