Kelly Slater added another award to his collection on Monday. The ten-time world surfing champion was awarded the Laureus Sports Academy
Action Sports Athlete of the Year, beating out Shaun White, among others. The Laureus Academy is a 46 member board, consisting of sports stars from across the globe. The awards were held at the lavish Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, (lucky Kelly!) and the host was Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey. The nominees were Slater, White, along with Levi Sherwood, Steph Gilmore, Jamie Bestwick, and Victor Fernandez. Go Kelly!
