In stormy onshore peaks at Ocean Beach, Slater was able to out-surf the Brazilian duo of Medina and Pupo to claim his round 4 heat, book a spot in the quarterfinals, and mathematically clinch his unheard-of 11th world surfing title. Finally !!
Kelly has won title number eleven for the second time.
