German-American Day

October 6th is German-American Day. Many Space Coast residents, including this writer, are descendents of German immigrants. This photo shows immigrants being 'processed' at Ellis Island back in the late1890's. 40% of the immigrants arriving in this country, between 1892 and 1954,  were processed at Ellis Island. If you haven't done it already, Google 'free search German ancestry'. See what hardships your ancestors endured to become an American. A humbling, eye-opening experience.
