Mark your calendar for next weekend's World Skin Cancer Foundation Slater Brothers Invitational surf contest. The action begins on Thursday night, with a kickoff party at Rusty's at the Port. Besides being able to see some world-class surfing and boarding, there will be free and private skin cancer screenings. Kelly Slater, currently holding the top spot in the competition for what would be his 10th World Championship, will be in town and hitting the waves (please let there be some waves...) at his old stomping grounds.
