Saturday and Sunday, August 21-22, there will be two opportunities
to help nesting sea turtles (and other marine life!) by keeping the
beach and oceans litter-free. As this Surfrider poster shows, the
time it takes for littered items to break down is:
Aluminum cans = 80-100 yrs
Glass bottles = 1 million yrs
Nylon net/fishing line = Forever
Cigarette butts = Forever
Plastics = Forever
Saturday's location: Barrier Island Center, Melbourne Beach
